HGH test
Human growth hormone is detected through the urine test. There is no any need of blood to detect the human growth hormone. Growth hormone tests are important and are taken to identify the lack of growth, to weigh up the HGH therapy, to help in the analysis of hyperpituitarism, to reduce the function of reduced pituitary gland etc.
There are various tests regarding to human growth hormone such as:
Stimulation test for human growth hormone:
It is also called as Insulin Tolerance, HGH stimulation and Provocation test that help us to detect the ability of production of human growth hormone of body. This test also helps to identify the lack of HGH deficiency. HGH level is low in normal patients however someone is having low HGH after motivation then the analysis can be done very accurately.
Insulin inspires the secretion of corticotrophin and HGH. If this inspiration gets wrong then the pituitary gland may fail. There is a substance such as HGH releaser factor that is used for stimulation of HGH. It is the more accurate test to determine the HGH deficiency that is caused by pituitary gland. Lack of human growth is also supposed when the bone age is determined by X-ray. Bone age shows the slowdown process of growth as compared to the chronologic age.
Suppression test of growth hormone:
It is also known as glucose loading test and is used to weigh up the natural level of human growth hormone and to analyze the gigantism in children. There are two blood tests in this procedure and it is important to take first tests before the direction of 100g glucose and second test after two hours of glucose ingestion.
There are the following results due to the HGH tests,
Normal results:
This test ranges from,
Somatotropin:
- Women: less than 10ng/ml
- Men:5ng/ml
- Children:0 to 10ng/ml
- Newborn:10 to 40ng/ml
Somatotropin C:
- 0 to 8 years boys 4-87ng/ml and girls 7-110ng/ml
- 9 to 10 years boys 26-98ng/ml and girls 39-186ng/ml
- 11 to 13 years boys 44-207ng/ml and girls 66-215ng/ml
- 14 to 16 years boys 48-255ng/ml and girls 96-256ng/ml
- Adult: 42 to 110 ng/ml.
Stimulation of human growth hormone should be greater than 10ng/ml. HGH level is suppressing by the glucose in 30 minutes to 2 hours to 3ng/ml. While, in children it is possible after 2 to 5 hours.
Abnormal results:
Somatomedin C: It is responsible for providing the increased level to diseases of acromegaly and gigantism. Hypoglycemia, major surgery, starvation, stress and exercise are the reasons that are responsible for inspiring the secretion of HGH, which in turn inspires the somatomedin C.
Growth hormone stimulation: There may be decrease in the levels of both HGH and pituitary. Because of the pituitary diseases, pituitary may fail down in the secretion of HGH and hormones. This causes to failure in the secretion of HGH by HGH stimulation test.
Somatotropin hormone: Overload of HGH is responsible for diseases if acromegaly and gigantism. There is inspiration for excess secretion by stress, hypoglycemia, anorexia nervosa and exercise. However, decreased levels are seen in dwarfism, collapse to thrive, HGH deficiency, hyperglycemia, late maturity in sex etc.
